Current Progress
In 2004 with the help from individuals and churches W.O.N. was able to build a two room house for a gypsy family of 13 in Barcu Satu Mare, Romania .We found the family living in a makeshift tent with deplorable conditions and no means to improve their living situation. The house was completed and furnished with beds, a sofa, a stove for cooking and heating. We provided food for the winter and clothing for the children who were running around naked. We were able to do this before the winter arrived.
Romanian gypsies of Hungarian descent this family is considered to be part of the lowest class minority in Romanian society. They go from village to village to work for their food or for whatever handout they can get. The adults are not educated and many of the children do not attend school. They are rejected by society and live from day to day with little hope for the future.
We need your help to meet the needs of similar families in this area.
W.O.N. will reach more families living under similar conditions. We want to
use this avenue to bring help and hope to the many gypsies in this area and to build a church for them someday, God willing.

Early 2005 we were able to prevent the closing of Casa de Copii, a orphanage in Ocna Sugatag. Our goal was to prevent siblings growing up there from being separated by the closing. We obtained a 25 year contract with the Romanian government to bring the building up to the standards to meet the requirements of a foster home environment. In addition to renovation the agreement called for us to provide educational programs that allow the children to learn a trade that will assist them in obtaining a job upon leaving the orphanage.
In July construction and renovation was underway. Bathrooms with showers, tubs and hot water was made available on each floor and the children were able bath daily instead of taking weekly cold showers in the basement. New flooring, new steps, stucco and fresh paint were applied throughout the building. Entrance ways were cut to adjoin the apartments.
More Progress
In the fall, a 40 foot container purchased by a Savannah, GA business man was donated to the Organization .The Rotary Club District 6920 of Savannah led a campaign that collected enough medical equipment to furnish 3 medical clinics. Bekins Van Lines, Hardeeville S.C. allowed the donated medical equipment, clothing, toys, computers, and mechanic and carpentry tools to be stored in dry storage for safe keeping until the container became available. We are grateful to these businesses for making it possible for us to get supplies to where they are needed.

By the end of the year construction on the orphanage was near completion with all supplies bought and paid for. Only a few last touch ups were left to be done when the Mission team visited at Christmas.
In February 2006 we received a donation to ship the container with medical supplies to Romania. We are awaiting approval from the Romanian Ministry of Health to ship the container. In the mean time we are in need of power tools for carpentry and wood working projects, sewing machines, mechanic tools and everyday hand tools to fill the extra space in the container. These items will be used for the educational training projects that will be started soon. Anyone who would like to donate items or money to purchase these items may contact us through the contact page in the top right.
In June 2006 W.O.N. made contract with the Santa Maria medical clinic in Baia Mare Maramures Romania to provide free medical care for the orphans and the mission teams from the US. In exchange our organization will provide them with medical equipment and medicines.

Community Outreach
In the mountains in the Maramures region of Romania in the small city of Tirgu Lapus there is an orphanage that houses handicap children and children with special needs. The CEO of W.O.N. was invited by Ion Buda, a member of the parliament to tour the orphanage. While in the city he also visited the unfinished hospital and the community center.
Although the city is full of beautiful views and a monastery built in 1390AD, it is seldom visited and suffers economically because it is up in the mountains isolated from the larger cities in the area. The people in the area have lost confidence in the political system and Mr. Buda wants to do everything within his power to restore it but he needs the help of outsiders who could bring industry or find ways to increase the economy.
The area is beautiful with rolling hills and green pastures. A few pensions have been built and promotion of Tourism has begun, but success has been slow and the people are discouraged.
Due to the poverty in the area, many homeless people and abandoned children are living in old abandoned buildings in deplorable conditions. The community Center needs to be remodeled where meetings could be held to educate and encourage the people of the city in regard to the abandoned children, as well as the orphans. There is resistance by the people to accept the orphans and the abandoned children. There is the tendency to see them as third class citizens without worth. Those who are living in poverty need to be educated not to abandon their children.

Also abortion is all too common in this area. The need for evangelism is great. The community center could be used for crusades to help deal with some of these problems
Ion Buda is a Christian man with a heart for this community and would like to see it revived. Worldwide Orphans in Need plans to do some research in the area and obtain more information.
