Summer Mission 2008

"Multumesc" (thank you) to all our friends and supporters of Worldwide Orphans in Need. Once again our news letter is a little late getting out. With full time jobs and the mission trip in June needless to say we have been busy. At the end of the mission trip Achim's mother went home to be with the Lord and our time in Romania was extended a few days longer than planned. We count it a blessing to have been with her in the end.

The mission trip this summer was great success.

The youth from First Baptist Church in Richmond Hill along with Youth Pastor, Joel Carter, Lindy Stewart, David Johnson, Angie Mock, Kara Shadrick, Cynthia Haynes and Stephanie Murphy had a wonderful time sharing God with the orphans from "Casa de Copii" in Ocna Sugatag as well as the children from the village in Finata (Fa not' sa) the home of the future campground.

Pastor Joel wrote in the churches "lifeflow" news letter that the trip was a significant event in the lives of the youth who went. Several of them shared in the newsletter how their lives were touched by working with children and teens that are less fortunate than themselves. One young man wrote "leave the language and cultural barrier to God. Leave the money situation to God". As we make our plans to move to Romania, we feel well advised by this wise young Christian man. Teenagers like these have such an impact upon the lives of the kids at Casa de Copii. To see guys and girls their own age who aren't ashamed to stand up for what they believe and who are happy and thanking God for what He has done in their lives far outweigh anything we as adult can do to reach them for Christ.

These groups of youth were amazing in their attitudes, willingness to work hard and to share Christ with the kids; on the streets and in the church services we attended.

Pastor Keith Joseph, Pastor Rick West and Music Pastor Tommy Brinson were constantly on the move preaching every night and on the week-end non stop. At the end of the trip 92 individuals had made a profession of faith. Praise God for the work He did using these men.

Several of the men on the trip were Construction Contractors who used their expertise at the campground site. Alan Mock, Richmond Hill, Fred Tuttle and Rob Wilson, Kentucky spent much of their time surveying the building and property to see that the building was structurally sound and that the layout was appropriate for its intended purpose. Along with an engineer from Romania they surveyed the building and walked the property to determine the best placement of the well and sewer system. They took a look at the cost and quality of the available materials needed to complete this project. When the youth Pastor and the group of teens at Finata were not doing Vacation Bible School in the village they spent time cleaning the stream that runs behind the building. Big rocks were move from the middle of the stream to the edges to reinforce the embankment.

PRAISES AND PRAYER REQUEST

We praise God for the progress that has been made at the campground site this year. With the economy the way it is things have been much slower than we would like yet we know God's timing is never wrong. We still feel that God is preparing us to be in Romania in 2009. Some days it seems the project is impossible, and then we're reminded that nothing is impossible with God.
We have the second container which is half full of wood-working and auto mechanic tools to open the training shops for the orphans. The buildings have been donated to us by the councilmen in two villages near the campground. Many of our young men at "Casa de Copii" are getting close to the age of having to leave the orphanage. We feel that time is of essence, hence our decision to do everything in our power to be there in 2009, God willing. We still need more equipment for the shops. If anyone has tools lying around not being used and would like to donate some we would greatly appreciate them. We also are also acquiring heat presses for T-shirts and sewing machines for the girls.

Also please be in prayer for our fundraising for the campground building and grounds. Once the building is completed, we will use an area on the first floor to hold weekly Bible study for the people in the village as well as have a pastor from larger villages visit to preach at least monthly in the beginning.

There is also talk that the government is trying to phase out many of the orphanages and place children in foster care. The building is big enough to allow us to foster some children if needed and still be able to accommodate teams from the US until the cabins are built and available for use.

Tentative Dates for Christmas Mission Trip to the orphanage are December 29th through January 9th. The latest we can book anyone to go is October 15th. You may contact us by email or telephone with the info listed above.
